WPP Predicts US Economic Growth Will be Boosted by 3D Printing

(Advertising Age) WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell believes that America’s long-term future is very bright on the back of energy self-sufficiency and revolutions in manufacturing, which gives high-cost/high-tech manufacturing countries like America an advantage. He wrote, “3D printing, for example, in terms of manufacturing technology, is going to give America a big advantage.” These statements were drawn from Sorrell’s annual year-end discussion of the world’s economy and his predictions for the upcoming year.

Overall, Sorrell sees 2014 as tough but manageable, with a bit of incremental growth. From his four “gray swans” (or known unknowns) that were identified in 2013 — the eurozone, Middle East, the hard/soft landing of BRIC and the U.S. deficit — three have probably got whiter and turned less grim.

WPP is a British multinational advertising and public relations company with its main management office in London, United Kingdom, and its executive office in Dublin, Ireland. It is the world’s largest advertising company by revenues, and employs around 162,000 people in 3,000 offices across 110 countries
